Whatzup - Breaking Cambodia Covid News on Outbreaks and Lockdowns

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Cambodia also received some 300,000 rapid antigen test kits donated by China.

Does anyone know if these rapid tests that return a positive result, are included in the daily totals?
Or are they still only reporting infections confirmed by PCR testing?

Are these the kits anyone can buy for $10 at pharmacies?
I doubt it. If someone is positive then they should then go to a government testing facility, or not.

Would you?

I was actually referring to the rapid tests being deployed officially, such as government workers, blitz testing at centres of outbreaks (like the markets where they test all the people there before letting them go) and also garment factory workers and other large companies that routinely test and will report.

Individuals and small employers will almost certainly not report.

Antigen test proof an infection in the past, not necessarily an active infection.

No, the rapid tests check for virus molecules, not antigens. Antigen tests are blood tests, not swab.

Ok, fair enough, antigen are a different beast. But they are using rapid tests in this country, with swabs and liquids and cassettes for the test results. They are now plentiful and are being used. It is those I am interested in.

Those who have received the AstraZeneca vaccine may get either the Sinopharm or Sinovac vaccine as a third dose, HE added.
That's got to be a disappointment.
