Hey man. I recognize you over from Tony's forum. Agreed, this completely changes a trip to the beach.ralphamsterdam wrote:Tony was my best friend in Cambodia. I met him in his previous Bar, the Circle Bar for 8 years ago and became good friends and had some good times together in Sihanoukville and Phnom Penh. Coming back to Sihanoukville in 3 weeks will not be the same without Tony. R.I.P. mate. I will miss you.

Hi. I'm Tony's sister and may well have met some of you at him funeral or following few days.
As a family we have been heartened by the great things you have said about Tony.
A lesson for us all though, should anything like this ever happen again, someone please get in touch with the family as a first priority.
As someone comments earlier in this thread offering caution that 1) the family don't know yet and 2) gruesome pictures should be removed so we don't see them.
Well, despite people out there knowing for 12 hours that my brother had died, no one let us know. At 2am your time it would have been 5pm here in the uk. So we could have been contacted via mutual friends on Facebook.
And, yes ,we only found out by seeing the photos of his body on Facebook around 7am when we got up and checked Facebook.

I was the one that reported it initially on this forum. My intentions weren't to cause anyone, his family in particular, pain.
I apologise unreservedly if I did.
It was however reported in the local media and on Facebook earlier and I assumed ,(wrongly). that the authorities would have been in contact with you.
Tony was a good friend of mine. I was devastated by the news, as were many, many people both here in Sihanoukville and Cambodia as a whole. He was a good, true man that you can be proud of.
My sincerest condolences and apologies to you and the rest of your family.

That corner is near my home and I've almost lost it a couple times (going very slow) because the leaves from the tree there make the pavement very slick. Please people, wear a good helmet.

Sadly no-one can control what gets put on Facebook and I'm sure his friends did all they could to try and contact the family.
