Water festival: 30 guys'n'gals arrested for Police/Army disguises

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

3 November 2017
PHNOM PENH - On the morning on 3 November, nearly thirty people were arrested by police for disguising themselves by wearing jackets with Police or Army written on them, causing confusion for the population. Despite no harm done, the offenders were taken into custody for perturbing social order and they will be investigated by police.
No way of knowing yet if this was merely a student prank for the Water Festival, or if it was intended as a political gesture.

Half the country wears stuff that says "police", or "army", but these must be some kind of group.as there's almost a dress code going on there.

Uh, I haven't noticed it.

The police/army take it quite seriously

Try painting POLICE on your crash helmet, or wear a jacket with it on and see how long you last, LOL

Pretty stupid thing to do with the amount of real police around.

Unrelated, what’s with all the dudes in matching suits and sunglasses with red ties this year? They just stand around watching everything.

yeah I see alot of the local kids running around with these jackets. Never seen them get in trouble for it.
Does anyone know if its actually illegal or if in this case they just got charged because there was so many of them and it was a big public festival?
Been thinking about getting one of these jackets myself...

1. Black uniforms are a touchy topic
2. Water festival is a touchy time
3. Combine both, asking for trouble...if i understand it, Khmers understand it way more..deliberate provocation, imo.

I saw heavily -armed members of the PM's BGU at the riverside...these guys are just asking for trouble.
