Preah Vihear Province: On March 7, the residents of Kampong Srola village, Kompong Sralao 1 commune, Chheb district, held a ceremony to reclaim their village from the clutches of malevolent ghosts who had caused a number of people to fall ill, according to local beliefs.

According to village tradition, a ceremony to cleanse the area of bad spirits is held at least once a year, but may be held several times if there is a need for it. In this case, villagers said that six children had become strangely ill over the past week, where they they would shout and behave strangely, and when they went to the hospital they did not get better. Local belief is that these people were possessed by the spirit of a ghost haunting the village who can be driven out of the victim by prayer and blessings. When the patients are prayed over, they are no longer sick and they return to their normal state.
To keep the evil spirit out of the village, the elders lead all the villagers to chant and pray and burn incense while leaving offerings. The whole village participates in the ceremony.

Appropriate ceremony consists of chasing the evil spirits with hot lemon drink laced with lots of rum and a few aspirin.

I strongly believe in whisky toddies. Whisky, lemon and two paracetamols’, hot water and two table spoons of honey.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

I'm keeping my ghost! He's a good burglary deterrent.
