Police hunt for drug trafficking masterminds
Police are working with their counterparts in neighbouring countries to identify additional suspects believed to have been the masterminds behind the trafficking of nearly one hundred kilogrammes of drugs found in Phnom Penh earlier this week, according to the National Police.

General Mok Chito, deputy national police chief, today said the National Police is working with police in neighbouring countries to identify the four masterminds.

Gen Chito said that police investigation revealed the drugs were brought from near the Lao border in Stung Treng province and brought to Phnom Penh to be processed and distributed across the Kingdom.

Joint police forces on Tuesday arrested four Vietnamese nationals at their rented home in Boeng Keng Kang district and seized 10 kilogrammes of methamphetamine.

The arrests led police to raid another rented home in Chbar Ampov district, where they seized nearly 75 kilogrammes of MDMA and various chemicals, but no one was arrested. Police believed that the masterminds fled to neighbouring countries after they heard about the arrests of the four Vietnamese nationals.

Crazy amounts of this stuff are being picked up recently. Probably just the tip of the "ice"berg too.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Vietnamese couple sentenced and fined for drug possession and trafficking

Phnom Penh Municipal Court yesterday sentenced and fined a Vietnamese couple for possession and trafficking of about two kilogrammes of methamphetamine and ecstacy which they committed in the capital in 2019.

Presiding judge Ek Polifil sentenced 36-year-old Nguyen Tuan Thanh to 25 years in prison and a fine of $15,000 and his 33-year-old girlfriend Vuo Thanh Hong to 20 years in jail and a fine of $10,000. The fines will be put on the state’s budget.

Judge Polifil told the couple that they have the right to appeal the sentences and fines to the Appeal Court within a month.

He said the sentences and fines imposed were for two counts of charges they committed under Article 40 of the Law on Control for Drug Possession and Trafficking.

Judge Polifil said the couple came into Phnom Penh as tourists and were staying in Boeng Keng Kang district’s Boeng Keng Kang II commune.

The police from the Anti-Drug department in the Ministry of Interior raided their rented house on December 4, 2019.

They were arrested after they seized from the premises nearly two kilogrammes of ice and ecstasy drugs, a weighing scale and other related drug materials.

Later when met by reporters, the two convicts refused to comment on whether they will appeal the sentences and fines.
