Unidentified Foreign Man Found Lying Dead Outside a House on Street 13, Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh, Cambodia News: On the night of 30 March 2019, an unidentified western man was found dead in front of a house on street 13, Sangkat Psar Chas, Khan Daun Penh, Phnom Penh.

The local people said the foreign man had been sitting out in front of that house since the morning. The house was locked up because the owners of the house had gone away to the province. When they returned home, they found a dead foreign man outside their house, so they reported the incident to the police.

After the examination, the police determined that the victim died of a heart attack. The body was sent to keep at Stueng Meanchey pagoda waiting for his family to be contacted, and for the embassy to arrange the funeral preparation. RIP.

Same flipflops. Last time I saw that man, he was led outside of wat ounalon by some people.
Has been walking around the riverside opposite FCC some afternoons when I was sitting there.

A member of staff across the street was shown a picture, so I am fairly sure he is dead. May he rest in peace.

Do we know that the deceased is the man in the above thread? Does anyone know his name ? Nationality ? It seems so horribly anonymous for him to die on the street as an "unidentified foreign man". It would be good to at least give him his name.

And what happens next ? Who pays for the cremation ? Not the embassy I suppose.

I believe most times the body is brought to Soviet Friendship Hospital where it is kept in a cooler, for the cool, low price of $200/day, until the family can be notified and decide on the next course of action. The police tack on their own fee for responding to the scene and bringing it to the hospital. Getting a body flown home can't be cheap either. All told, dying here isn't a cheap ordeal.

If this is true, I wonder if the bodies are actually kept refrigerated.
