Two Men Busted for Trafficking Bones of Wild Animals at Phnom Penh International Airport
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): Two men have been arrested for trafficking 282.66 kilograms of bones of wild animals at Phnom Penh International Airport. The identities and nationalities of the suspects has not been divulged for the moment; nor has the ultimate destination of the cargo been specified.
The raid was led by Lieutenant Kan Vatana, Secretariat and Chairman of the Special Mission Team, and the Committee for Combating Counterfeit Products of the Ministry of Interior, in collaboration with Phnom Penh customs officers, local police, and coordinated by Mr. Chay Hong, a Phnom Penh prosecutor.
The police arrested the two men for trafficking, and confiscated the animal bones which weighed 282.66 kilograms. The case was prepared to be submitted to the Phnom Penh municipal court.

Phnom Penh, Cambodia News: Two Vietnamese nationals, both male, have been sent to appear before the Phnom Penh Court in the case of the cargo of 282,66kg rare animal bones that were seized on December 27, 2019, at Phnom Penh International Airport.
According to the social media page of Wildlife Alliance Cambodia, the cases that were seized with a smuggled shipment of 281 kg of suspected lion bones in Cambodia last year, after being shipped from South Africa, were opened today by Cambodian officials.
Two Vietnamese nationals who claimed ownership of the shipment are in jail and being investigated by the Cambodian customs office. Cambodia is a well known transit country in the illegal wildlife trade for products heading to Vietnam and China to be used in traditional medicine.
