Two Girls Die of Drowning in Lotus Pond, Phnom Penh
Yet another tragic accident where children die from drowning:
Two Girls Die of Drowning in Lotus Pond, Phnom Penh
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On June 24, at 10:30 am, two girls named Vuthy Vathtey, an 11-year-old student, and Seu Keoreaksa, a 9-year-old student, died of drowning after they went swimming in a pond in Sangkat Kombol, Phnom Penh. The two victims were cousins.
Before the incident, the three cousins, 1 boy and 2 girls, went to the rice field and the two girls went swimming in the pond and the boy waited for them near the pond. The victims were picking the lotus flowers, when they suddenly drowned after stepping into the deep part of the pond.
The boy saw that the girls were in trouble, so he went to look for help. The local people took the victims out of the pond and sent them to the hospital, but unfortunately, the two girls were already dead.
The police prepared the case and returned the bodies to their families for funeral preparation. RIP.
