Two Colombians arrested for DHL car part stuffed with cocaine

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Can someone illuminate me on why people are smuggling cocaine half way around the world into A poor country?
I understand it can be cut 100X but still is there that much of A demand for coke, when theres so much speed and ice around? Or is it going onward to China and other points. But at some point someone with know how would just teach the Cambodians how to grow and manufacture, right? This story doesn't make sense to me once I get past the initial headline.

Yes, there is limitless demand for coke.

But most coka plants need high humidity, and low steady temps of 20-24c. Most of them grow in a narrow band 10 degrees off the equator. Some can be found in the wild in India, but yield fuck-all coke.

limitless or limited? I am not saying your wrong but its a country consistently in the bottom 10% of the world for yearly income. A hit of ice or heroine especially is cheap, so who is trying to sniff away A months salary exactly?

Not just that but easy to manufacture in Cambodia, no need to import any. Red flag right there.

Two and a half years to get to trial.
So we can assume pre-trial negotiations were thoroughly conducted.

Watch the ultimate verdict/sentence very very closely.
Can the columbian cartels overcome the judges squeamishness in delivering an obvious under-weight sentence in such a high profile case??

Watching the video, wouldn't it be easier to use an air gun to blow the shit out instead of cutting and hitting

That's true agony. Nearly 3 years in pretrial detention, no embassy here, nearly 20k km from home. And the prospect of a life imprisonment sentence.

If those rich Cambodian dudes driving Aston Martins and Teslas were a little more enterprising they could recreate the climate conditions of the Andes right in Cambodia and grow the coca plants there. All it takes is cash. No need to import that garbage then.
