Two British Arrested for Overstaying in Cambodia
Siem Reap: Two English have been overstaying in Cambodia and were arrested by immigration police in Siem Reap during an administrative crackdown/search on 22 July 2016 in Mondol 3 village, Slor Kram commune, Siem Reap province.
Police said the foreigner named Gavin Martin Patrick Christopher, male, 54, English, Unemployed and Pauline Ann Mirgan, female, unemployed.
The foreigners told people that they are couple and they entered Cambodia in 2013 via Poi Pet international border. Police added that, they were arrested for overstaying and unemployed and plus they don’t have money to extend their visa.
Currently they are being detained and questioned at provincial immigration department’s detention center and are being prepared to be deported out of Cambodia via provincial airport.
Interestingly this man names Gavin, but he is English and plus he wasn't living in Phnom Penh.

Well, there goes my theory that expats in SR are classier than our dearly beloved expats from Sihanoukville.Username Taken wrote:Ummm, that's the woman.CEOCambodiaNews wrote:

Dont ever see them rounding up rich over stayers hv ya?
Money is not the problem, the problem is no money

Because they can afford to pay for visa extensions. Anyone who can't afford $280 a year for a visa extension has some serious issues!bolueeleh wrote:Dont ever see them rounding up rich over stayers hv ya?

Re: Two British Arrested for Overstaying in Cambodia
Deported today, August 8 2016.
They look happy and relieved to be leaving - and also much healthier than in their arrest photos. Is the immigration department running some sort of rest cure for foreigners ? Well, safe trip !
But, what I'd really like to know is how/why they managed to get deported for a visa overstay ? We see some foreigners here who are really sick and desperately need to be deported home and no one lifts a finger.
How to get (someone) deported if necessary ?

Very good. The Cambodian judicial system in action.
Next...the Cambodians that murdered a Frenchmen and his four children.
Ha!
Just kidding.
These people are clearly the last sorts of people we want here.
Glad to see the Cambodian police in action.

Re: Two British Arrested for Overstaying in Cambodia
Still wondering why these two get to go home and they don't even have festering feet or worms ? Article says they didn't have enough money for a visa, so who pays for the plane tickets ?
I'm not saying they shouldn't be deported, just wonder how this works. Some go home, some stay on until they rot.

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST
