Cambodian TVfb Director Arrested for "Fake News" Video

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): Mr. Sovann Rethy, director of TVfb, has been arrested and was questioned at Phnom Penh police station regarding a news item that was posted on TVfb.
The police spokesman said that the online news director was arrested because TVfb showed a live video about COVID-19 in Cambodia which is "fake news". He was sent to appear before the court in Phnom Penh this afternoon.

Some khmer news says he quoted one line from PM in a post on his own facebook and it's illegal.
And the quotation is something like "if youre poor, sell your bike."

So it was not fake news just repeating something HE said. And we wonder what the ramification of the emergency powers will be?

Cambodia’s Ministry of Information Terminates Broadcasting License of TVFB

Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 8 – Minister of Information Khieu Kanharith issued a letter on Wednesday terminating TVFB media and website licenses owned by Sovann Rithy.

According to the letter, TVFB published an article of incitement that harms security, social order and safety.

Sovann Rithy, owner of TVFB, was sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court on 8 April 2020.

if enough anger or people showing dissatisfaction over the termination of broadcasting license then this may be the 0.01% trigger for the almost ready emergency powers to be activated.
