Truck Totalled After Driving Directly into Phnom Penh Train

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On October 21, 2019, at 1 am, an oil delivery truck smashed into a train in downtown Phnom Penh, at a crossing on Hanoi road, Sangkat Teuk Thlar, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh.

Before the accident, the oil truck delivery was reportedly driving along Hanoi road at high speed in the direction from south to north. When it arrived at the level crossing, the truck did not slow down, and smashed directly into the side of an on-coming train, injuring the two people in the cab of the truck, who were sent to hospital for emergency treatment.

The police went to the accident scene and took the truck away to keep at the police station, waiting to sort the problem out later. The train was barely injured, and went on its way.

Wow the train suffering a scratch, sorry to here the truck driver did not win this round, hay, but didn't run away from the incident too. But sorry for them, has they don't look in a fit state to run anywhere. When will they learn that trains cannot get out of the way! Education is certainly needed to make people aware of the dangers of the trains and railway. What happened to the truck owners sometime ago who said the train was at fault and they claimed for damages?

In all fairness, these bullet trains approach awfully fast.

Yeh but if the train came from his left he had the right of way and the train should have swerved, drivers don't appear the have the ability to turn their heads left, maybe it's genetic !!

It. appears from the photo that the train was coming from the right, so in that case it is his fault.

The train clearly made little if any attempt to swerve around the truck, perhaps the train driver is "foreign" and is not aware of the regulation stating "trains must give way to badly maintained trucks that are overloaded and have defective brakes". NOTE: Ignorance of the law is no defence. It doesn't help matters if the train driver is Thai (or British) and is confused due to having to drive on the other side in Cambodia.
