Almost 20 people were injured in a traffic accident in Pursat province’s Krokor district after a truck and a minibus were involved in a head-on collision, police said yesterday.

Noun Sopheap, the district deputy police chief, told Khmer Times that the truck, which was loaded with unused oil, crashed into a minibus going in the opposite direction on National Road 5 with 16 passengers on board.

“The truck that was loaded with oil was overtaking another car when it hit the minibus that came in the opposite direction, causing 18 people, including the drivers of both vehicles, to be seriously injured,” he said.
“The truck driver caused the accident because he was overtaking very dangerously, but he was also seriously injured,” he added.

Mr. Sopheap said nine of the victims, including both drivers, were in a critical condition, while the remaining nine sustained only minor injuries. All 18 were sent to the provincial hospital...
