Just because you've never been mugged doesn't mean you're never in a position where you could be mugged. Maybe even a 12 year old could grasp that concept!SinnSisamouth wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2017 7:20 pmif u have not worked that out yet then u r fuckedRaybull wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2017 7:16 pmAnd how do you determine what those positions are? this brings me to my point, people who got mugged, scam etc etc will be more street smart than those who hv not, thats if they learned from it
Money is not the problem, the problem is no money

I was chatting with a tuk tuk driver who I'd got to know pretty well in SR. He worked pretty much exclusively for one of the hotels and was a good egg and told me just what cunts the police could be. It goes beyond the paying for reports/paperwork and laying money on them for returning stuff.Jamie_Lambo wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2017 5:39 pmyup i had a bike stolen from the beach because i forgot to lock itSinnSisamouth wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2017 4:53 pm no sympathy

didnt even file a report, not paying the coppers to give me it back
was my own fault, took it on the chin
From what he was saying they also ask that question any barang hears a lot: "How long you stay?" In their case, though, it's not because they want to tuk tuk you around for three days or do minimum boom boom for maximum dollars for the duration. They are asking so they know how long they need to keep the laptop/expensive camera/other valuable in the cupboard before the tourist fucks off home so they can sell it on/place it in a shop for sale. Fucking scumbags, what chance do a people have in a country that has police like that?

I've never been mugged. When I was really young, like 7 or 8 years old, a gypsy tried to put a smelly blanket over my head and bundle me off the street into a passageway that led to some steps and a river. I struggled and got away. That freaked me right out, since then I've tried to keep aware of what is going on around me. This type of feeling is probably what others have been alluding to in their posts. It's not something magical, just a heightened awareness and ability to judge situations from a distance and react quickly if necessary.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
