Re: UK tourist charges indecent assault on the night bus PP-SV
A boycott of Virak Buntham bus company is gathering steam apparently. Why not ? They are really giving everyone a bad name. Transport around Cambodia is dangerous enough when all goes well.
http://www.khmertimeskh.com/news/17154/ ... continues/SIHANOUKVILLE – A boycott of the Virak Buntham bus company launched by businesses here is intensifying and gaining increased support after alleged criminal activity on its routes was exposed...
...“Virak Buntham has consistently shown themselves to be a danger to people and their possessions and potential users of this company need to be made aware of the very real risk involved in using this company,” said a high-ranking tourism official supporting the boycott...

Guide to Cambodian bus companies. Virak Buntham gets a big mention.

On the positve side: Giant Ibis gets their N°1 rating, followed by Mekong Express. Here are our recommendations.
The one company to definitely AVOID is Virak Buntham. The buses of this company have been involved in many accidents (more than any other bus company in the Kingdom), some of their staff are known to steal from passengers, and even sexually assault female passengers. True, most of these incidents happened on one of their night buses. Night buses should be avoided at all companies (read our warning at the end of this article).
In short: there have been many allegations against staff of Virak Buntham, including assaults, robberies, thefts and now attempted rape. After all these incidents, we’re surprised they’re still in business. Maybe not for long as tourism officials, business-owners and residents of Sihanoukville and Siem Reap have called for a boycott of the controversial bus company...

Just don't sit on the back row. Book early. I notice that site has no SHV in the Destinations tab, is it written by someone off here?Anchor Moy wrote: On the positve side: Giant Ibis gets their N°1 rating, followed by Mekong Express.

I get the impression that many people who use buses, just look for the cheapest possible option, & don't bother looking at any reviews beforehand.

They might want to update that rating. I''m not saying that one accident makes them rubbish, but this is a horrible accident where a girl was killed due to bad driving. And of course the driver ran away.
http://www.khmertimeskh.com/news/17996/ ... d-tragedy/PURSAT – A girl was killed after a Mekong Express van ran her over yesterday morning on National Road 5 in Bacan district.
Police in Bakan district said the victim was a 14-year-old student at Bakan Secondary School.
Witnesses said that after finishing school, the girl was riding her bicycle home along the National Road. A van driving at high speeds attempted to overtake a car that was moving slow because the girl was in front of it...
