Village gas station burns to the ground.
Last night the local village gas station caught on fire and burned to the ground. Along with the family home in the back.
Local fire truck called in. Then all the fire trucks in Siem Reap city. Supposedly 40 trucks (or 17, numbers unclear.). Multiple explosions with the initial fire. Then the trucks went in spraying water. Fire went out then came recurred. After the all trucks exhausted their water, Battambang city fire department was asked to send their trucks. By that time, everything had burned to the ground.
Supposedly the road leading to the station was heavily damaged and a width guide placed restricting heavy trucks. Unfortunately, the gas tanker was too big to fit and drove through rice fields to bypass the road and get there. Fire started after refueling.
Lots of thoughts.

That's a bit of a mess. I don't think water works so well with gasoline fires.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

I think foam would have been needed

In Phnom Penh the fire truck that is the best turned-out, best equipped and has the best trained crew is the one from the Khmer Beverage brewery in Dangkor, it always attends any major fire.

Is it true they demand money from the occupiers before they get to work putting out the fire?

Could be bad translation, but thankfully seems only one person was hurt with minor injuries. No football shirts were found at the scene, so arson has been ruled out.

I always wondered about this too. By the time they arrive I'm sure most possessions are gone and then if they put it out anything not burnt will be water damaged.
Maybe the neighbours would be more keen to pay to get it put out

Re: Village gas station burns to the ground.
Certainly once upon a time that was the case with some units
Don't know about present day; but suspect not, as the fire services are far larger and better trained and equipped than ever before it's likely changes have been made

It happens. Meh.
