Angry Loanshark Attacks Clients with Cleaver

Cambodia News (Kandal province): On June 13, 2021, a furious loanshark, Pen Thida, a 27-year-old, a farmer in Koki Thom village, Kean Svay district, Kandal province, attacked a husband and wife, a 38-year-old man named Choy Chhaily, a welder and a 36-year-old woman named Somreth Chan, a farmer, with a cleaver causing serious injuries.

Before the incident, the loanshark went to the victims' house to collect the money, but they refused to pay back the loan, stating that they didn't have the money. When the debtors asked for a payment delay till June 25, that angered the loanshark so much so that he called one of the victims to come near him and then struck him with the cleaver on the head. The man's wife intervened to help her injured husband, and she was also struck on the head.
Both victims were treated and hospitalized, the man had 4 stitches and the woman had 7 stitches.

The attacker escaped, but was arrested by the Justice Department and Koki Thom police at 16:20 P.M. on June 14, 2021.
The suspect and his motorbike were seized and detained for further investigation in Kean Svay police station.
