When did you join the Communist Party?newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Sun Jun 13, 2021 8:20 pm It takes a special kind of employee to work in a Khmer jewelry shop. A cross between a monk and Mother Theresa. To be low paid, and looked down upon all day long as being stupid and poor by the boss’ wife, all the while watching the boss skim from the top. All while handling more wealth in a day than he could make in lifetime.
Would be a festering resentment day in and day out.
I sure couldn’t do it.
And I guess neither could he.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Everyone working hard to get ahead is a noble thing.
However some Khmer often don’t have the first clue about inspiring loyalty and dedication in their staff.
Just simple things. Paying them more than 50% of a factory wage. Keeping the break room fridge stocked with snacks and drinks. Not letting the missus boss around the employees like personal slaves.
Some try to extract very last drop of sweat from their workers while avoiding paying them. Openly cutting corners while expecting workers to go the extra mile. And then loudly berating they when things don’t go as they plan.
I believe communism crushes the human spirit. Capitalism far from perfect but the best choice for people.

This is true to a large extent. Not universally, but sure as hell up there.newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Mon Jun 14, 2021 8:46 amHaha!John Bingham wrote:When did you join the Communist Party?
