Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): Police arrested two bag-snatchers from a gang of three, after a woman was injured when the thieves snatched her bag while she was on her motorbike.

The arrest took place at 3 pm on October 25, 2020 in Prey Sala village, Khan Por Sen Chey, Phnom Penh. The suspects arrested are:


* First: Name: Bun Chhoeun Piseth, male, 18 years old, uncertain occupation; Residence Borey Piphop Thmey, Chhouk Va, Andong Village, Sangkat Kork Roka, Khan Prek Pnov.
* Second name: Hon Bun Kheng, male, 18 years old, living in a rented house in Phum Sleng Roleung, Sangkat Teuk Thla
* Third: Asang (?), male, about 18 years old, has an unidentified address (still sought by police.)

Police said that on October 24, 2020, the thieves snatched a bag from a woman on the railway line in Prey Sala village, Kakap II commune, while she was riding a motorcycle to return home from the market.
The violent attack caused the woman to fall from her motorbike and injure herself. An ambulance was called and the thieves rode off from the scene.

The victim, Kong Sokchea, 44 years old, sells fried rice and lives in Ta Nguon village, Sangkat Kakap I, Khan Por Sen Chey. She had 100,000 Riel, a mobile phone and an ID card in her bag.
Following this incident, the 2nd Police Station and the Por Sen Chey District Criminal Police conducted a search for the thieves. Then on October 25 at 3 pm, the police saw a suspect, Bun Chhoeun Piseth, riding a motorbike on the road and they chased him down and captured him.

Police then took the suspect to the police station for questioning, and on October 26, the force arrested another accomplice, Hon Bun Kheng, while the third suspect is still on the run.

After the arrest, the suspects confessed that they snatched the bag from the victim, and they admitted to another 10 bag-snatching attacks on people in Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville. Police are now continuing to build a case for legal action.
