Cambodia News (Sihanoukville): The police arrested a group of 7 Chinese nationals, including 1 woman, for kidnapping two Chinese people in Sangkat 4, Sihanoukville. The suspects were involved in torturing and robbery.

On July 30, 2020, at 11:30 pm, the police received a call from some local people reporting that they saw a group of suspects kidnapping two people, a man and a woman, who got out of a Range Rover, plate no.PP2BR-3333, at a villa in Sangkat 4, Sihanoukville.

On July 31, 2020, at 5 pm, the criminal police in cooperation with Sihanoukville police, and coordinated by the prosecutor, Mr. Penh Piseth, went to the scene and released the man, who was a chauffeur for the other victim.
The suspects took the other victim, a woman, and ran into the forest to escape. Later on, the police found the place where the suspects detained the victim at a bungalow in Sangkat 4, and arrested 4 suspects and released the woman. After questioning the victim and the suspects, the police then proceded to arrest the other 3 suspects.


The victims were identified as XIANG YAYANGZI,a 23 year old Chinese woman tourist, and ZHONG YUHAO, a 23 years old man, who was the woman's car driver. The victims were robbed of 50,000 yuan and 4200 USD, a bracelet, a watch, 3 rings, a pair of rings, a passport, and a luggage and other items.

The suspects were identiifed as TAN ZHICHAO, a 25 years old man, ZHOU HONGLI, a 30 year old man, LIU DONG, a 38 year old man, ZHUO MING, a 23 year old man, LI XINGANG, a 41 year old man, TANG LU, a 31 year old woman, and YANG JIAN YU, a 50 year old man. The police confiscated some evidence.

On questioning the suspects, police learnt that the gang had pretended to befriend the woman victim and arranged to meet up with her. Then they robbed her, and took the woman and the driver to a villa and locked them up. After that, they took the victim's car to keep at a casino in Sangkat 3, Sihanoukville.
Fortunately in this case the police were alerted by the locals and quickly rescued the hostages.
