Fire Rages Through Sihanoukville Market
Sihanoukville, Cambodia News: A large fire raged through the food market in the streets behind Psar Leu in the center of Sihanoukville at around 9am this morning.
The firetrucks were called out and the fire was contained; there was no loss of life and the habitations near the market were saved. However, many market sellers lost their stall and all their goods in the blaze, which was fierce and totally destroyed some parts of the market.
The fire has caused power outages in the District 4 of Sihanoukville city.

Was that market as bad as i always remember it?
Or was it only because it was the first ever cambodian market i walked into, on a hot steamy rainy-season mid afternoon?
I nearly passed out.

Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

This is from memory, but a couple of years back, maybe two years ago, there was a demand to improve the parking situation in front of Psar Leu. The authorities replied that there wasn't any point because the market area was due for "renovation". Hmm.

The market burnt down previously and was rebuilt in its current form. It's burned down a few times, if only something could be done about this...
