Minister Asks If Marijuana Could Be Considered a Legal Plant

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

ImagePhnom Penh, Cambodia News: The Cambodian Minister of the Interior, Samdach Krola Hom Sor Kheng, has requested that Drug Department officials examine the uses and influences of marijuana. He mentioned that some countries in the world are now accepting marijuana as a legal plant and use it for treatment.

According to the Congress on February 13,2019, Mr. Sor Kheng, said that at least three countries such as USA, Canada, and Thailand, allowed using marijuana legally. In the USA, some states able to smoke marijuana in public, and Thailand now permits it for medical use, although the government controls the supply. As a result, the Cambodian Minister of the Interior has requested " anti-drug authorities, please examine marijuana to see if it has uses."
For the moment, marijuana is an illegal plant in Cambodia , treated as a drug that must be destroyed to preserve the public, and this is the first official speech that questions the government's stance of prohibition toward the green herb.

It has been grown in Cambodia for many a long time. They really should be considering taking advantage of the export potential of quality weed and/or oil.

This question pops up quite frequently regarding pot and kratom. Both are used for mecdicine in the villages, Kartom for eevrything from the shits to tooth extraction and one or 2 plants of either or both are tolerated. I was told that the decision is up to the minister in charge of medicines. he can sign an order and make them legal overnight. Kratom is now used in a substitute given to thais to get them off ice, despite being technically illegal
