Three Foreigners Arrested for Bashing German Outside Siem Reap Bar

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

So it's frowned upon to bash a German nowadays? Damn libtards ruining the holiday traditions.

It may be of interest. My partner knows one of the men personally and tells me that a payment of $15,000 USD each has been set as the release fee to drop the charges.

Yes, interesting. But pay $15,000 to avoid what potential punishment. What would one get for bashing a German in Cambodia? Prey Sar?

Interesting, thanks. That's a lot. Does your partner know what precipitated the fight?

I'm skeptical that the three knuckleheads pictured in the photo have $150 each, much less $15,000.

I hear that the big guy on the right is a thug known for getting into fights in Siem Reap.

On a separate note, I messaged the victim on Facebook and asked what happened and he responded "i fell down unlucky while they hit my head,i woke up in hospital." I asked why they attacked him and he said "i dont kow. i just came there to say hello to 2 friends sitting inside and was on my way back to the bar on the opposite side of the street"

Out of interest does anyone ever get deported for such behaviour here or is it a free for all and you can do whatever you like without the risking being thrown out. ( Genuine question )

Because you look knowledgeable of the law one off topic question. Whats the consequences if somebody is caught carrying small knife lets say 4-6 inch (10-14cm) blade long? And whats the consequences if the knife is used for self defense?
Thanks
