Three Chinese tourists thrown off flight at Cambodian airport following scuffle over legroom

In the latest edition of Chinese tourists behaving badly, three Chinese passengers were kicked off a flight in Cambodia bound for Chengdu after a very heated argument broke out on board on Monday night.

The ruckus arose before the flight had even taken off from Siem Reap after a man reportedly in his 60s was angered by the inconsiderate woman in front of him tipping her seat back too far, reports Chengdu Commercial Daily .

This sparked an immediate war of words and jostling that naturally prompted all their respective friends and relatives to duly join in. The two sides ignored repeated efforts to try and calm them down by flight attendants, their tourist guide and other passengers.

As the situation threatened to boil over and become violent, the plane's French pilot finally took decisive action and asked immigration officials to escort the pair and also the man's wife off the plane on the grounds that the trio were compromising the safety of the aircraft. The flight was delayed by one hour as a result.

Mainlanders are the worst. Virtually every horrible airport experience in my life involves them. In a country with 1.400,000,000 people one would think that politeness would be essential to life.

Have you ever been in a line with Chinese people? The person behind you will literally walk right into your back before stopping. Then when the line moves forward a meter it will happen again. And again.

Even worse when they run their baggage trolley into your legs. You can push back, but it's hard to be really rude to people with no manners. All the social norms are nul and invalid. Giving them the stinky-eye gets you nowhere. Same for verbal abuse. So, then what ?

And how do people who have politeness as a norm, like the Japanese for example, cope with the blatant rudeness of the mainland Chinese ? No fun for Cambodians dealing with Chinese tour groups either. For westerners, there is a certain point where you say stop that's enough, I think. The French pilot told them to get off the plane or else.
And it's only going to get worse with more and more tour groups like this one.

On the positive side, it makes the western turds look a little less turdish.

After 30 years in hospitality I have seen shite behavior from all nationalities, in particular when traveling in groups.

On the second bump I turn around, place a hand firmly on their chest (which can get awkward with women) and tell them to not do it again. Never yet led to grief. Mind you, the Chinese are getting bigger...

Out at PP airport dropping someone off today, a Chinese guy was about to knowingly run his suitcase into Mrs Stroppy's leg... until he caught my eye and realised it would end it pain for him rather than her. He demonstrated fine reflexes. What really craps me is that he was deliberately allowing his suitcase to run into her and only stopped it when he realised it wouldn't be allowed.

Took a flight from PP to Singers during the month, arming the doors was delayed because a young Chinese-Khmer guy decided at the last minute that he wanted his luggage from the hold, and arranged with a ground crew staff member to retrieve it, but without talking to the plane crew about it. Watching the Jetstar Asia crew chief deal with a) dickhead passenger and b) dickhead ground crew member and giving them both a right bollocking about not keeping the captain updated about what was happening, was pure entertainment. She (crew chief) as seconds from removing the passenger, and I was seconds away from assisting her with it.

On an earlier flight, AirAsia cabin crew were taking all additional suitcases, and all oversized carry-on bags, away from mostly Chinese passengers and marching the luggage straight back off the flight, and presumably into checked luggage. The screeches of indignation reminded me of a chook house once the fox has made his presence known. Should be more of it.

Yes, I have a big problem with Chinese tourists. No, that's not very "Christian" of me.
