Thief Gang Hack Man to Death for Motorbike They Don't Want
Motorbike thieves hack man to death
July 18, 2018
A 26-year-old man was murdered early yesterday by five sword-wielding youths who slashed his neck in the capital’s Chbar Ampov district.
Captain Vann Sothea, deputy chief of Prek Thmey commune police, identified the victim as construction worker Po Vuthy, who lived in Kandal province’s Sa’ang district.
Villagers who witnessed the incident said the victim was driving his motorbike alone along the street where the gang of drug-using youths hang out every night. The victim ran out of petrol and was pushing his motorbike to find a house which sold petrol, but none were open.
“While the victim was pushing the motorbike, five drug-using youths with swords appeared on the road and tried to steal his motorbike,” Mr Sothea said. “The victim fought them to stop the motorbike from being stolen, but one of the gangsters took a sharp sword and hacked his neck many times, causing very serious injuries.”
“After chopping the victim’s neck, the suspects did not take the victim’s motorbike because it had no petrol,” he added.
Villagers reported the incident to police who sent the victim to hospital, but he died in the ambulance.
