The Ruins of Sihanoukville 2020

Breaking news from Cambodia can be found here. CEO often finds Khmer news and translates it into English for our readers if it is interesting to expats, locals, Cambodians living abroad and anyone who wants to stay informed of the latest local and international news stories about Cambodia and our neighbors in South East Asia. There are many sources for Khmer news articles and they can all be found here in one place. Most of the media comes out of Phnom Penh, Siem Reap or Sihanoukville, but we cover national Cambodian news from all provinces.

Yuk! They should nuke the place and start again with tasteful planning..
funny.
Ain't so fu%king funny if you know people who live there!
At the end of the day what does Cambodia have that can sustain this predicted bullshit;
Tourism & a cheap labour market?
Narcissistic sociopaths are lining the their pockets at the expense of the Cambodian people & the people will pay!!!

After 5 minutes, I wanted to throw up. Got to be the ugliest buildings (outside of Thailand) I've ever seen proposed for a modern city development. @clutchcargo press that big red button.

But I guess if you're throwing money down the casino toilet 24/7, you won't give a shit. Looks like a destructive nightmare.

The idea of a Macau style gambling hub was attractive and brought in a ton of dough.... at first....

Sadly, the gangsters ruined it all, so one of the hardest yet best decisions from Ironman was to change tack and go for a better class of people.

Before we saw stories about murder, extortion, kidnapping and torture in the news everyday - deportations aplenty...

The social price was too much, so even though several of the projects I supplied fell through half-way and I felt in in my pocket severely I do support the decision.

Everyone is waiting for the genuine investors to come and it won't be long we hope.

Rainy season is coming though !!!

Yes, of course my post above was harsh and flippant and I omitted to add :stir: with hindsight.

Nevertheless, it really saddens me what's happened to Snook. And that vid with what they're proposing to do with these what (up to 40 storey?) ugly chinese looking towers that are so close together you could nearly shake hands with your neighbour in the next tower...not to mention the view blocking and shadow effects of such monstrosities. On another thread there were pics of ugly tower developments behind Otres (not shown in vid) that look just like those things near PP airport.

Seems to me all the natural fundamentals were there, nice extended and multiple beaches, islands off the coast, a deep port and what happened?

multiple casino licences that tried to emulate a mini Macau
all the crime associated with gambling
hence predominance of chinese tourists
chinese businesses catering exclusively for chinese
hence westerners avoiding the place
locals forced out unless working on the 'dirty, low end' jobs
others have made a quick buck at the expense of others
non local khmers avoiding it as a holiday place
the sewerage in the sea and the rubbish
lack of appropriate building safety standards
the flooding and drainage issues

It could've been so much more for an international, cosmopolitan beach resort city.. I fear it's too late to fix it all up.

For the Uighur slave labor after 're-education' no doubt.

Organ 'donation' is mandatory.

That's an interesting read. So it looks like all those CCTV cameras focused on the gambling tables are only for security purposes, so people all around the world can see nothing illegal is going on.
It's hardly that interesting. Shock and horror!! A casino has a lot of CCTV cameras!! Definite evidence of ongoing online gaming inferred by ex VOA, PP Post and Guardian totally unbiased stalwart of the news!!
So voa,PP Post and Guardian have ben uploading fake videos to you tube. that is shocking

I see a range of apartments for sale, such, with different price range, starting from $39.600 for the Sea View apartments. Are any of these new apartment blocks finished and selling? But alas, it is a disappointment about the pollution, not much fun strolling down the beach, the sea would be out of bounds just has it would be shark infested but this time with floating terds, but no worries if the pipes are placed well out to sea, then only the islands will be effected.
Always "hope" but never "expect".
