Yep, the Royal Sands Koh Rong development should be finished within next 6 months. They got some european guy/company to partner them in this project. He owns many similar projects in Thailand.willyhilly wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2017 4:01 am Royal Group were always looking for partners to develop on Koh Rong. Has anyone seen how their development is going there?
Couple months ago it looked like this. More: https://www.facebook.com/theroyalsandskohrong/
They took out lot of forrest. When you compared to Six Sense project who kept the island more or less in natural state:
There are 40 luxury villas on that island + big restaurant/lounge building.

Hardly a worthwhile comparison, Koh Krabei Six Senses is a Russian 5 stars resort with swimming pool secluded villas where even the trails have been designed by architects while the Royal Sands look like a typical Cambodian developed 2 stars trailers park.

All the owners were given notice about 3 days ago that power and water will be shut down on Jan 5th. Talked to one of the owners of Sessions last night, he has been told beach front bars will be first to go and should be rebuilt within 2 months. They will then be offered back to the original lease holders at an increased rent. After the beach front, they will start on the bars behind with the same plan ie: knock down, rebuild in better condition and offered back foe increased rent. One other thing I heard is that there will be a restriction on people living in their business premises - only 1 person as security guard at night
Seems it's Royal Group and Ministry of Tourism behind this and not the chinese with new shiny casino for many of yours disappointment.Btw, this is Royal Group. Has nothing to do with the chinese or jack ma

January the 7th is a public holiday and I believe they move the Sunday holidays here to the Monday, right? So that weekend's a long weekend? There's also two different electricity suppliers there. $5 says this doesn't happen on schedule. Also, in what way will they be rebuilt? They are already metal-framed with brick infill.rogerrabbit wrote: ↑Fri Dec 01, 2017 1:37 pm From Expats and Locals Living Sihanoukville FB group

This is described only as a successful private development on Koh Rong. Is it the same one ?willyhilly wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2017 4:01 am Royal Group were always looking for partners to develop on Koh Rong. Has anyone seen how their development is going there?

There are metal posts about 5 foot tall along the shore side of the outer path along Occheauteal beach the first ones went in two days ago. I suspect they will be for a green or blue metal fence or maybe even red....now from just after the Pier and heading in the direction of queens hill
