Put a khmer in a Casino and he/she will come out after he lost his motorbike, phone and also got a debht.
Sadly they are not rational thinking enough to gamble. No matter how much they loose they will always go back. They dont see their disadvantage in gambling.
Go to the casino and play dragon/tiger. Its a 50/50 game. Every time they loose they watch the screen displaying previous hands in rows and find a explanation to why they guessed wrong, "oh, look at this (random, but not for them) pattern", i should have known. They think they can beat the games, they gonna be rich and famous when they go back. Sadly they just ruin their lives.
But ofc its hypochrisy to crack down on some village card game when they can all enter Ha tien Vegas and play 48 straight without anyone caring.

Your next. You are playing with cards.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

You must mean casinos outside of Cambodia coz it's illegal for khmers in KOW.Albror wrote: ↑Fri Mar 06, 2020 5:16 pm Put a khmer in a Casino and he/she will come out after he lost his motorbike, phone and also got a debht.

Also, that attitude seems no worse than many Casinoville tourists who lose it all, borrow more $$ from the loan sharks, lose that and then get kidnapped for ransom from their family members. Not to mention many instances of suicide jumping off buildings.

Re: The Crackdown Continues on Cambodian People Playing Cards
So, what to do ? Casinos are clearly there to take people's money. But people like to gamble and that has always existed.
I'm anti-gambling myself, but I don't think that prohibition is the answer. However, gambling causes a lot of social problems. So, should it be regulated ? I don't know, what do you think ?

Interesting way to cut off the temptation to gamble pre-emptively. Big problem in Issan

Soon, TPTB will have bigger problems to worry about. Covid19 anyone......
Re: The Crackdown Continues on Cambodian People Playing Cards
I dont see the problem. all the taxi drivers are doing it in my street. its just redistributing their earnings, probably a good thing. its not like a casino is taking a cut so it all comes out even in the end. ban casinos and lotteries and game machines but the card players are harmlessAnchor Moy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 06, 2020 9:21 pm So, what to do ? Casino is a dumb kind of gambling, it gives zero chance to win, not sure why anyone would do it. Like to gamble? Try market speculation, a smarter type of gambling where you can actually develop and use a skill to win.
