Police Detain Five Following Slaying of Chinese Woman
Authorities have detained five Chinese nationals for questioning following the brutal slaying of a Chinese woman at her apartment in Phnom Penh’s Pur Senchey district on Sunday evening, police said on Monday.
Chen Huaying, 25, was hacked and stabbed to death at about 6 p.m. on Sunday in her bedroom at an apartment in the Borey New Town housing development, according to deputy district police chief Touch Phon.
“The victim had about six to nine injuries on her neck after being hacked with a cleaver and one large wound in her stomach after being stabbed by a knife,” Mr. Phon said, adding that investigators had found the bloody cleaver and knife at the crime scene.
“We assume that it was intentional murder because the victim’s room had no kitchen, so the victim did not have a cleaver,” he said.

Re: The Body Of Chinese Woman Found In The Room In New Town Borey, A Chinese Woman Arrested
Five Chinese Nationals on Trial for Murder.
Presumably the suspect missing from the photo above :
The trial of five Chinese nationals, arrested for allegedly murdering their housemate in Phnom Penh’s Por Senchey district in November last year, continued at the Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Friday with three of the suspects denying the allegations.
Chinese national Chen Huay, 25, an employee for Chinese construction company Tong Fang, was found dead in her Chom Chao commune apartment at about 8:30pm on November 15, with multiple stab wounds in her torso and her throat slit, according to a police report.
Presiding judge Ly Lipmeng said her five housemates, Yang Peipei, 25, Lou Zaizun, 44, Xu Fuju, 58, Zeng Weng Xuan, 53 and Zhao Chunxi, 51, all fellow Tong Fang employees, were arrested on November 16, and charged with “intentional murder” under article 199 of the Penal Code.
During Friday’s trial, Ms. Yang, Mr. Lou and Mr. Xu categorically denied murdering Ms. Chen and claimed to have no knowledge of her death.
Ms. Yang, Ms. Chen’s roommate, said that on the night of her death she, Mr. Zeng and Ms. Zhao went shopping about 6:30pm, leaving Ms. Chen alone in her room.
She said she returned around 8pm to find the room locked.
“When I returned from shopping and arrived at my room, I saw it was locked. I then knocked on the door many times but there was no response,” she said.
Ms. Yang said she started shouting for help after looking through a crack in the door, horrified by Ms. Chen lying on the floor of the room in a pool of her own blood.
“I looked into the room via the door’s hole and saw that my friend had been killed and there was blood on the floor. I then shouted for help from other people who stay on the same floor,” she said.
Mr. Lou told the court that he was washing clothes in his room and said he only found out about Ms. Chen’s death when Ms. Yang discovered her body.
“I did not kill her nor was I related to her murder. I do not know who murdered her,” he said.
“I knew of her death from Yang Peipei who loudly shouted on the second floor of the building for help and I went to see her.”
Mr. Xu told a similar story and said he heard Ms. Yang’s shouting and went to investigate.
“When I heard Yang Peipei’s loud shouting, I went immediately to see her but at that time I saw Mr. Zeng Weng Xuan had come out from the locked room and walked downstairs,” he said.
Ms. Yang said she and the others managed to force open the door, but they found that Ms. Chen was already dead.
Ms. Yang said she and Ms. Chen had been friends and that she had no motivation to kill her.
“I was very shocked when I saw her death like this. I never had an argument with her. I did not kill her,” she said.
The trial will continue on July 25.

UPDATE: Five Chinese nationals who were accused of murdering a Chinese woman have been released and the charges dropped. They had been in custody since November 2015. So, who dunnit ?
http://www.khmertimeskh.com/news/28586/ ... rder-case/Five Chinese nationals, arrested for allegedly murdering their housemate in the capital’s Por Senchey district in November last year, had their charges dropped and were released by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court yesterday.
“The fingerprints on the cleaver left in the victim’s room do not match the fingerprints of the five suspects. So the court understands that the five suspects did not kill the victim as accused,” presiding judge Ly Lipmeng said, reading the verdict.
