Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Thai Gambler Succumbs to High Blood Pressure

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Cambodia News (Poipet): On March 18, 2021, at 5:11 am, a 53-year-old Thai man, SUVICH AIERMSKUL, passed away at the Poipet hospital.

The police said the victim went to gamble at a casino in Poipet on 17 March. The victim's friend, Mr. Chakri Chenthavong, 43 years old, said that the victim had high blood pressure, but he stayed playing at the casino all night until morning. Then at 5 am, the victim felt uncomfortable and collapsed from high blood pressure. His friend sent him to a private clinic, but they didn't accept him because his blood pressure was too high, so then, his friend sent him to the provincial hospital, but the man was already dead.

After the examination, the doctor concluded that the victim didn't have enough sleep and his blood pressure was high, causing him to die. The body is being kept at the hospital, waiting to be claimed by the family.

That translates as "they didn't accept him because they could see that he was dying". There is no money in a corpse. (And it's unlucky to have people die on you.)

The oath is not mandatory, it's optional. Nobody is gonna jail you if you refuse a patient, distasteful as that may be to some
