American Joe Kent Roberts Dies in Kampot, Cambodia on April 1, Family Still Not Notified 2 Weeks Later
Joe Kent Roberts from Texas died of natural causes in his Kampot guesthouse on April 1, and the embassy has still been unable to notify his family.
Instead, they notified a 70 year old lady from his church about his death and are leaving it up to her to get in touch with his son and brother to break the bad news.

Well, my grandfather is so old that they just told him something like, "you have prostate cancer, but don't worry, your overall health is fine for your age."SinnSisamouth wrote:"he was happy but ill"

They pretty much said it will take longer to kill you than you'll probably live anyways, so no point in aggressively dealing with it.
"Happy and ill" is the goal when you get older.
And he just got hit by a car 2 weeks ago, which probably doesn't help any. Gash on his head, 7 broken ribs, and a nasty broken leg which has required a skin graft.

I am Daniel Morgan Roberts, Joe Roberts son, if you have any more information on my dad it would be greatly appreciated, along with any stories or humor. Also, you can inform the Embassy they can contact me here. Thanks.

Hi Daniel, and very sorry for your loss.wordsaremytools wrote:I am Daniel Morgan Roberts, Joe Roberts son, if you have any more information on my dad it would be greatly appreciated, along with any stories or humor. Also, you can inform the Embassy they can contact me here. Thanks.
Did that lady from his church manage to contact you, or what?
Also, is there a reason that you don't just contact the embassy directly yourself?
While I know they pay attention to topics about Americans who die here, they probably don't consider CEO the most appropriate/ideal channel to communicate with family of the deceased.

Mackavelli,
I was finally able to get through the channels and get in contact with both the lady from his church and the embassy.
Thank you for your condolences.
