Terry Friel, Khmertime's Acting Editor-In-Chief Hacked with Cleaver on Foot by a Khmer Girlfriend

Phnom Penh: A Cambodian woman hacked her Australian husband with cleaver two times in front of their house causing the foreign man lying in the pool of blood after they were having an argument over the left-over money for the foods expense.

The incident happened around 9:15 pm on 08 August 2016 at their rented house located on stree 63 in BKK 1, Chamkar Mon, Phnom Penh.
The victim named Terry Friel, 53 years old, Australian, an acting editor in chief at Khmertimes newspaper. Her girlfriend named Ros Sreyleak, 32, Cambodian.

The woman said that, she has been living together with the foreigner man about a year ago. She added that, when she first met her boyfriend, he told her that he would bring her to live in Australian and they already picked up the date for the wedding which is in December 2016. Her boyfriend told her to process the document, however he didn't have enough money, so he told her to borrow the money from the Micro-finance for 2000 dollar for spending in the document processing. He gives her 150 dollars to pay back to the micro-finance each month. She just has paid back two months only to the micro-finance.

She said, within one of living together, they often have issues with each other, but nothing really serious. On that day, her boyfriend give her 200 dollar, 150 for paying back to the micro-finance and 50 for buying foods to fill in the fridge.

Then her boyfriend asked her about the 50 dollar and she told him that she spent it all to buy foods and put them all in the fridge. However, her boyfriend still keep talking again and again about it and said that she wasted the money. He packed up his stuff trying to leave the house, no matter how hard she begged him to stay. So, she was really mad at him and ended up hacking him two times with cleaver which put him in serious condition.

She said, after she hacked him, he walked with his blooding leg from the house and finally fell down in front of the house asking people for help.

The victim was taken to Soviet hospital and the woman was arrested by the police and currently is being detained at BKK 1 police station facing the legal action.

Does this mean he will not be getting married to her and taking her to Australia. Little things like this should not stand in the way of true love.

50 bucks does seem a little ungenerous.

Her chances of getting a visa now are pretty slim I would say. An Indian Company runs the visa applications, not Australian Immigration. It does seem pretty easy to get here though, the place is swamped with Asians.
