Taking Cambodia's bogus election to task
Re: Taking Cambodia's bogus election to task
Whether you like the poster and/or his country of origin or not, the article shared is good. I feel for my friends here in Cambodia. They deserve better.

Re: Taking Cambodia's bogus election to task
Of course everyone deserves better, but do they know what's good for them? Many want some sort of change but that won't happen while traditional systems of patronage remain. It's a bit of a quandary.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Many, and this includes a lot of posters here, i think would change their minds on the CPP if they were to become recipients of a share of the chinese largesse.

Re: Taking Cambodia's bogus election to task
What is really patronizing is when foreigners push their agendas while ignoring the bigger picture. A typical example of that is the way opposition party's vehement racism went largely unreported in foreign publications.

What are you arguing here?
That Chinese people buying your land, inspires pro-CPP affections?

They aren't buying land, they are at most leasing it, and leases can be revoked.

Re: Taking Cambodia's bogus election to task
I am implying, quite simply, is that people can be bought. And that if you or any regime change activist were to be in on a share of the corruption then opinions would change.
Or are you one of those rare people who "cannot be bought"?

Re: Taking Cambodia's bogus election to task
JBs point is also correct but i dont think there will ne much "revoking" of leases
Re: Taking Cambodia's bogus election to task
Also..... i am quite sure the people selling and leasing land and property in SHV are more than happy with how things are going right now.
