I don't think you can do that ... besides in this election a no vote was effectively a vote.

Minister of Labour Ith Samheng, the ministry wrote: “The owners and executives of all factories, enterprises and institutions have to allow workers and employees to have three days off from July 28-30 . . . keeping wages and bonuses as usual for the workers and employees.”

I think you have to suck up the "excessive" public and adhoc holidays along with the 6 day work weeks and low salaries.

We are well versed in sucking up the excessive public holidays and pay reasonable salaries, but thanks for your uninformed judgement.

We checked the government website that lists public holidays right up to the election, and the election was not listed. We also checked as many potential sources as possible and found no reference to the quote above, but clearly, if that's what's been mandated then that's what we'll apply. Thanks for the information. Do you happen to have a source for that? Also - is there a prakha enforcing that?

Rant time. Why on earth would an employee need three days off for a half-day event? Yes, I know it's a great excuse to nick of to the village, but polling was created in Phnom Penh for workers here. To grant three days to ALL employees is simply irresponsible.

I have it on very good, first-hand authority that some of the biggest garment contracts are being moved to another country right NOW. (This will obviously take a few years to fully implement.) For all the ills and evils of the garment factories, what jobs will the government provide once these jobs are gone? The excessive public holidays and ad-hoc holidays was quoted as one of the primary reasons, as well as wages that are rising too rapidly.

That was to be expected, same as with all other countries when wages and cost go up ,,,, move and start a new factory , new machines and new contracts in a new country. Looks like South Africa is next in line.
