Swiss Man Dies on Phnom Penh Street

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

I lived in Switzerland for three years and I can not say that I understand 90%. Maybe in Zurich, but in some areas if Switzerland, I understood very little.

Off topic but reminds me of a French man I used to work with here. His English was perfect as he had spent quite a bit of time in the US. He was a Parisian and moved from Cambodia to Canada to look for work. When he would inquire about a job on the phone, the Canadian French said they could not understand his French. I suppose it would be the same for Portuguese visiting Brazil or Spanish visiting Mexico.

You know that. I know that. Your typical Frenchman living in some beach resort doesn't know that. Which is the whole point.

It depends on where you are from in Germany, obviously. A German from Freiburg has it much easier than a German from Bremen. As a child, I often went to Switzerland for skiing. I'd say 90% sounds about right (for me personally).

I wouldn't understand either - even if they spoke English.
Both the Swiss and the Germans are far too "sensible" and "responsible" for me to comprehend.
