2 Suspected Drug Traffickers Arrested in Sihanoukville

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Latest word this week is his son in England paid the Sihanoukville Gendarmerie $60,000us for his release, but he is still in jail with something like 25 other prisoners in the same cell. I guess there is no honor when dealing with thieves in uniforms.

No surprise here, didn't I say exactly so in my last post on the subject ?

He sounds like a terrible negotiator.

I heard today that David Reader aka Snowy has died. Couldn't find anything in the press about it though. Anyone?

I'd guess not because Snow died a year ago. David Reader is the guy this thread is about.

Sorry for your loss, and thanks for the confirmation.

What I heard is that he was sick and sent to a hospital in Phnom Penh. They realised he was going to die, but they didn't want him to die there, so they sent him back to the prison hospital to die.

Rest in Peace.

That's a hard end to the road for sure. I do wonder how these guys get to the age they are; if they don't know you can't trust a drug-addicted hooker, though. Interestingly, here in SR, I was dragged out to Mikey's for the very first time in nearly 3 years of residence the other day (a friend of mine is friends with the owner). One of the uncomely skanks latched on to me like a limpet while I was in there. I explained several times I was in a relationship and would not take her home. I left on my own (as I had said I would). Then the next day at around 4 p.m. said skank walks straight into my apartment without knocking... she'd lied her way past our security guards and got my address from the tuk-tuk driver. Of course, I threw her out immediately ignoring her pleas for $5 for her moto driver... but it did rather leave me in shock, it's the first time I've ever experienced something like that. I guess desperate times call for desperate acts or something like that.
