Strange case of 10yo found gagged and bound.

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Few clues as apparent abduction baffles cops

Stung Treng’s Thala Barivat district police yesterday were still trying to piece together a case involving a 10-year-old girl who was found unconscious earlier this month with her hands and feet bound and mouth gagged.

Thala Barivat district police chief Sem Sitha said police still had no “clue” about the suspects or their motives, but the case was still under investigation. “I am leading this work, [and I’m] hoping to have results soon,” he said.

A district police officer, who requested anonymity, said the girl was found by her uncle on February 3. The girl’s father had left 15 minutes before the girl was found.

The girl initially claimed there were five suspects involved, but police believe there was just one because no footprints were found on the muddy ground, the officer said.

Police suspect the girl was given drugs, but it was not an attempted kidnapping case and the girl wasn’t hurt.

“When the parents brought [the girl] to file the complaint, she could not even remember who her parents were,” he said. “However, a few hours later, she was able to recognise them.”

States that local officials and police believe she was tied up and drugged unconscious by 5 perpetrators seen on on 2 motorbikes in this area with the intention of cutting out her "kidneys, heart and blood". (Presumably for the organ trade but it doesn't explicitly state that)
Very isolated, lightly populated part of the country,

Could also be black magic related considering her age.

Or of course domestic violence.

Thanks for the link, Rama. That adds another dimension to the story. Mind boggling.

Are they suggesting in the article that "foreigners" - people from outside( maybe ethnic Laos ? ) - came down from the Laos border looking for random organ traffic victims ? Do they give any reason for suspecting this ?
Hard to know what' s possible sometimes.

Good assumptions. I immediately thought organ trade. Black magic also possible. Lucky girl. let' s hope someone in the family didn't sell her.

That is alluded to. The outsiders are described as "ប្លែក" (different, odd, strange) and then the next sentence goes on to describe the remoteness of the area and it's border with Lao.

No other reason than this besides the fact she was tied up and drugged is given.
It's also not explained how she untied herself or why the 5 men (or lone man) didn't 'operate'.
All happened in the day time at 2.
She had a younger sister in the house also.
