It could be true. It could be inaccurate information. However, it wouldn’t be prudent to have Cambodian kids living in your house without government approval (fostering situation or adoption). Taking the right steps is one way to protect yourself. I guess we will wait and see what evidence is found on his computer/smartphone. Otherwise he doesn’t have much going for him. Sort of looks like he has been hiding his activity if he doesn’t have proper approval.

He was charged in the court today, and the judge has issued an order for his detention while he awaits his trial.

His blog, of a couple of teachers in Cambodia trying to make a difference, sounds very normal IMO, but that doesn't prove anything I guess. It seems that for some time now they had "adopted" some street kids and were trying to give them a head start. There's a mention of renting some of them a place of their own to stay in (because they were sleeping on the street), sending kids to school, and taking the kids on outings.

Some of these "streetkids" have families who may not be doing so well. In this situation, it's not uncommon that the parents of the kids want a share in the new-found wealth. I would not defend a pedophile, and I won't, but for the moment the situation is unclear, and I think that the suspect deserves a certain presumption of innocence until further proof.
How to know ?

What I do know is that there are plenty of cases of informal "adoptions" of poor kids by westerners who put them through school etc because the parents are too poor. In all these cases, the kids are happy, but often, the parents also expect to be helped. When you take on a kid, you get the family as well. This is Cambodia.

It sounds like the only evidence against him at the moment is the testimony of a mother and victim/s and the fact that he bought the kids lots of stuff.

That's not what I call only! Fingers crossed for justice.

In this series he's seen before and after cuffs have been put on in a room with young boys sitting on a mattress. It looks like the moment of the arrest and maybe that room is the crime scene. It's not looking very good.
