We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. Police arrested five of the occupants of the camp for the possession of small amounts of the drug methamphetamine. They were marched off to the station for questioning and sentencing. Some of the suspects appeared to be almost children; but their ages were not provided. Their official address was documented as "Under Steung Meanchey Bridge, Mean Chey I Village, Sangkat Steung Meanchey 1, Meanchey District, Phnom Penh".
The five suspects are currently being detained at the Meanchey district police office for a case-by-case investigation.

Lol ...squatters? Maybe a few but this is where the govt setup some half ass corregated metal homes when they kicked them out of their slum homes to make way for filling in the canal and building new homes.

They aren't squatter camps and the government didn't set them up. PSE did, they are temporary homes for people living along the canal that is being filled in. They are supposed to be moving back afterwards to new homes.

As temporary housing, it looks pretty rough to stick a bunch of people in shacks under a bridge, but more info would be good. How long have they been there, and who's PSE ? Actually, any info or links on the people being moved from the canal would be interesting. Thanks.

PSE is Pour un Sourire d'Enfant, a huge NGO that looks after 7000 students and their families. The prefabs have been there at least 18 months, I don't know how long more they will be. I know one of the directors and I'll ask him next time I see them.
