Mr. Abdulkdir Dahir Muse went to Dep News office this morning, 13 May 2015 and said he was an asylum seeker and was brought by boat to Cambodia in 2001. Cambodia was not his destination. 'Mistakenly brought to Cambodia instead'? Just a small mistake, right?
Good luck to him, it will be very interesting to see what happens.

Yes i met this guy couple of years ago, i bought him a phone as he mentioned that he lost his phone, so went to buy him cheap Samsung phone to receive calls from me and others who were trying to help him, i brought his case to the Somali Embassy in Malaysia to try and help him back home, however he again lost the phone ( probably sold it for 5 dollar ) so contact was lost but i made sure to put his case in FB in case his family see it or somebody back home who is able to help him, I saw him again last year same situation, his situation is tough, wish him luck.

Met this guy some time back, a sad story, he gets a monthly stipend from some government (forget if it is here or Somalia or somewhere else) which covers his basic costs. He just walks around all day aimlessly with nothing to do and little money to do it. As it says he is trapped here almost like the character in that shit Tom Hanks movie "The Terminal" but stuck in a country rather than just an airport.
I could be wrong but I think he once briefly cooked at the Irish Place after Pat generously offered him a helping hand....turned out to be a shit cook and was let go.
Hope he gets what he wants

Yeah UN gives him some allowance and when they moved from Cambodia he still gets it through some NGO organization, he says that its A Vietnamese women who he use to date long ago get him fired from restaurant he use to work, perhaps its not true, Actually there was couple of people who wanted to help him but he kind of chase them away from his life, include Somali American Journalist who offered him to appear in Vidoe Recorded message to send to his government but he refused and every money that was given to him to buy phone and try to contact his family was either spent or the phones magically disappeared.angkorjohn wrote: ↑Thu May 31, 2018 10:26 am Met this guy some time back, a sad story, he gets a monthly stipend from some government (forget if it is here or Somalia or somewhere else) which covers his basic costs. I remember him as well. Is he still around? I feel like I used to see him at the makeshift coffee shop on the old LakeSide back in them days.

Re: Somalian guy seeks government assistance for returning home
When I was in prison, I couldn't help but notice 3 types of inmate: blacks, whites and hispanics. He just walks around all day aimlessly with nothing to do and little money to do it.
For the most part whites were reading, exercising, taking classes or conversing.
Hispanics were always busy doing something - typical Mexicans you know.
But the blacks, for the most part, they wandered aimlessly or slept.
To gladly teach and gladly learn.
