Khom Chandaraty, the alleged mistress of acting opposition leader Kem Sokha, appeared in the Phnom Penh Municipal Court yesterday to testify as the victim in a prostitution case.
While Ms. Chandaraty admitted, during her more than three-hour testimony, to lying during a previous round of questioning on April 19, she also accused Mr. Sokha and fellow Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) members To Vann Chan and Pin Ratana of damaging her reputation and forcing her to resign from her job as a hairdresser.
She is asking for $300,000 in compensation from the man.
Ms. Chandaraty’s lawyer, Kem Veasna, said his client’s testimony was true

Let me get this straight - What and who is a victim in a prostitution case ? The prostitute or her client ?
If she is a prostitute, so what, this is not illegal.
If she is not a prostitute, who accused her of being a prostitute ?
According to this earlier article from the CD, it was the police who accused the woman concerned of being a prostitute... and therefore, ruined her reputation as a hairdresser etc. Shame on them, I hope they will pay up.
https://www.cambodiadaily.com/news/sokh ... on-110756/A woman rumored to be a mistress of CNRP Vice President Kem Sokha has been summoned to appear before the Phnom Penh Municipal Court after police submitted a report to prosecutors accusing her of giving false testimony and being a “prostitute,” according to a court warrant seen on Friday.
The warrant, which was issued on March 22, orders hairdresser Khom Chandaraty—who has been ensnared in a sex scandal after being named as the woman heard speaking with Mr. Sokha in a series of intimate and sometimes sexually explicit recordings leaked online last month—to appear in court on April 8 to answer questions about her alleged crimes...
Meanwhile, Adhoc members are questioned over a $204 "bribery" attempt.Full explanation on the court's line of inquiry here:
The $204, a standard sum given to people being assisted by Adhoc, was seen by the Anti-Corruption Unit as a bribe.
“There was no other amount of money mentioned.Phnom Penh Municipal Court spokesman Ly Sophanna declined to comment on the court’s line of inquiry during Ms. Chandaraty’s hearing.
“The inquiry is important during the investigative process and it’s very beneficial for the court to proceed to the next step,” Mr. Sophanna said.
I can hardly wait to see what the "next step" will be...
We already know what the next step should be. A book, then a movie.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Re: Sokha's "mistress" charged with prostitution.
I met a Swedish lawyer who had walked out with the rest of them over the governments obstruction in the KR trials. He said he was head-hunted by a Cambodian law firm. He decided to take the job with reservations, but after only six months he had to throw in the towel. The look of disgust one his face when he was talking was very telling. He declined to mention specifics but kept going on about corruption and giving examples of that instead.
This whole thing is a joke; the reports; the courts; the lawyers/barristers; the judge; no doubt the jury (if they even have one); and most obviously the government and its PM.
If you wanted to show the world Cambodia in a very bad light, this is IMO a good way to do it. It's like a bunch of chimpanzees dressed up as reasonable humans and given a script from a Hollywood B movie court drama.
Who reckons HM threatened to nail her head to a coffee table if she didn't comply? This family is really "cheap" they won't even pay her for falsifying her testimony, just tell her to get the cash from Sokha. Lol

Re: Sokha's "mistress" charged with prostitution.
Saga continues but not much is new. They say that the beautiful princess was lured by two of the black knight's henchmen into taking a plane to Bangkok and checking into a hotel there, and she thought she was there for the shopping and the minibar.
However, the most gob-smacking detail to be revealed by the Phnom Penh Post article below, is that PROSTITUTION IS ILLEGAL.
So, I was totally wrong about this, and it appears that it is a heinous crime under Cambodian law :
