A Man Had His Skull Crushed and His Body Run over Whilst Walking along the Road
Oddar Meanchey Province: A man was hit directly by a vehicle which crushed his head and pulverized part of his torso whilst he was walking along a national road on his own at night time. This incident occurred at 5am in the morning in the morning of February 2nd 2015 in Toul Krueh village, Khum Tlard, Trabieng Prasat district.
Witnesses at the scene said that the accident happened close to dawn, they saw a man walking along national road 174 from an easterly direction heading west, he was walking along on the roadside when suddenly a large truck driving very fast from the west changed direction and smashed into (the man) and ground and shattered his skull and broke of a piece of his body. As for the vehicle in sped off and disappeared.
The traffic police in Trabieng Prasat district informed that after they had received news of this accident they went to the exact spot and measured the dimensions. They ascertained that the vehicle hit the man because it was travelling in a manic fashion.
The victim was called Saon Sogien, male aged 20, a labourer at a water treatment company (called Deep Ice Pool*). The police said that before the accident the victim and 2 colleagues were delivering ice to regular customers, but by chance their vehicle broke down and the victim let his 2 colleagues wait in the broken vehicle, whilst he walked back to the water treatment factory to see the boss to inform him about the broken vehicle, then out of the blue the accident happened.

I saw a crushed head victim a couple of months back. Not a pretty sight.

Re: Skull Crushed Whilst Walking along the Road
That's some nasty stuff.
Randomly, this reminds me of a liveleak video this week of a lady (in China, me thinks) who just breaks away from someone who's restraining her, then runs directly under a big tractor trailer.
And I saw a brain on the road in Saigon. That's the nastiest thing I've ever seen in my life, at least by the way it affected me.

Re: Skull Crushed Whilst Walking along the Road
If you read local news, you will see that a lot of Cambodians died by road accident everyday. All the pictures posted were too graphic.

If you know a lot, know enough to make them respect you, if you are stupid, be stupid enough so they can pity you.

True. Most newspapers and news websites have whole 'traffic' sections. 2 broadsheet pages in most newspapers everyday. There are a huge number of accidents in Cambodia every day.Samouth wrote:If you read local news, you will see that a lot of Cambodians died by road accident everyday. This was just one death of many.
Life is a odd thing and can be taken away in a second. There are so many people in the world and their lifes are so precious to thier family and friends but at the same time so meaningless.
This guy (who's name I've probably translated incorrectly) has got more attention and thought spent on him in death than he would have most probably got in a full life.
Maybe I've seen and read too many traffic accident reports, but I think (and certainly hope) that seeing such gruesome images will make people drive more carefully.
Not that you still couldn't die in an instant. But also seeing that life is so fleeting maybe people will treasure it more also.

It is really true, from the moment you started your ride on the road, your life can be taken at any time. Cambodian life is really horrible. Honestly i am so afraid to take the ride on the road. i wish in near future we will have a good traffic and better infrastructures.Rama wrote:True.
