Six Cambodians arrested after beating Turkish national UFUK ÖNTÜRK, 53, to death for hammer attack
Good on the Khmer blokes. Regardless of whether they receive a prison sentence or not (and I pray that they don't), they did their best to defend their women and themselves from a crazed entitled foreign national, and he paid the price in blood.KhmerTimes wrote:

Daun Penh police arrest six people after a Turkish man was beaten to death. National Police
A Turkish man was beaten to death by six people in his rented room around 12am on Monday, near Sorya Mall, Street 51 in Daun Penh district. The victim was named Ufuk Onturk aged 53.
According to a witness, the victim was sitting on the first floor balcony smoking and accidently dropped an ashtray, which landed on the street below, narrowly missing the son of the house owner.
The wife of the house owner went upstairs to find out why he dropped the ashtray on them. Then, the victim pulled out a hammer and attacked the wife, resulting in minor injuries.
On hearing her screams, the husband immediately went up to remonstrate with him and was also attacked with the hammer. This resulted in other family members and friends attacking the victim, which ultimately led to his death.
Lieutenant General Chuon Narin, Phnom Penh Municipal Police Chief, instructed the Daun Penh district police to liaise with the Serious Crime Police.
The local police arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area to allow the forensic team to conduct tests. The body of the victim was transferred to Toek Thla pagoda.
The police arrested six suspects- Pav Kunmuny, Vann Hout, Pav Kunsothea, Khouy Minh Keat, Ngon Vannak, and Pav Kunsothy. They are all in detention pending legal action.
Daun Penh District Police Chief, Colonel Teang Chansa, said the victim came to Cambodia on a private tour and that three of the arrested suspects were family members, while the others were their friends.
In other words: Ufuk fucked around and found out.

Quick to judge, aren’t you (and not the first time)? The problem with this whole story is that there is only one side. The arrested had plenty of time to agree on what allegedly happened.HaifongWangchuck wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 6:28 pmGood on the Khmer blokes. I'm merely assessing this situation based on eyewitness reports and the news, same as everyone else: If anything has anything else to add, then perhaps I was hasty to judge, but based on this information alone, it sounds like he was dealt with accordingly: None of us would let a man with a hammer attack our girlfriends or wives, would we?hanno wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 6:33 pmQuick to judge, aren’t you (and not the first time)? Our immediate response would be to call five family members / friends to finish him off with the six of us.

The deceased's family is requesting the body not be cremated so it can be interred in the deceased's father's grave.

First the foreigner guest dropped an ashtray at almost hit someone’s son. When the wife went to inquire why he did it, instead of apologizing, he attacked her with a hammer. When the husband when to protect the wife, the guy also attacked him with the hammer. The husband called for reinforcements.
I bet the guy was still trying to hammer then all and was overwhelmed with numbers.
They weren’t just killing the poor unfortunate foreigner because he used a hammer on the lady. They were trying to stop him for hammering others to death.
He was out to murder people but instead got murdered himself.
At least my read on things.

Or they got into an argument (maybe he did drop an ashtray by accident), they were drunk and aggressive and outnumbered him.newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 9:41 pmFinish him off?Kammekor wrote:No sir!HaifongWangchuck wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 6:39 pm

He tried to defend himself with a hammer but couldn't stand up to 4 drunk violent dudes with whatever weapons they had.
Sticks, knives, metal bars etc.
I find the drunk khmers killing a foreigner more likely than a foreigner hitting a grandma with a hammer, unless he has a history of mental illness...

Being a reasonably placid sort, I've never attacked anyone with a hammer but of one thing I'm confident - if it happens, I will fuck them up beyond the level of 'minor injuries'HaifongWangchuck wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 6:28 pmKhmerTimes wrote:

Seriously? Six locals beat a foreigner to death for a 'hammer attack' which caused only minor injuries and you're good with that?

A lot of different versions of this in Khmer on Facebook. The only commonalities are something about an ashtray either thrown at them or accidently dropped off the balcony and the group beating him to death in response. The rest is just confusion on who escalated first and who "deserved" it.
