haha thanks Samouth, will take not of this, could come in handy haha
Samouth wrote:Yes and she is also not loyal to her partner. She doesn't have commitment for long term relationship. I think the equivalent one is butterfly. Unlike slut who just sleep with another even without the involvement of emotional.Jamie_Lambo wrote:
so srey sava means an un honest lady, a lady who lies?
by the way the term can be used for both male and female.
it goes like this
1 Srey Sava
2 Pros Sava
Yes, could be handy, but how insulting is it ? Does it have an automatic sexual connotation? Could be funny, but don't want to offend anyone by mistake.

yeah i gathered that thanks samouth thanks, i actually used it in a sentence today and it worked so thumbs up for you but as AM said, i wasnt saying it directly about someone and/or to that person, how offended would the person be if you was to describe them as a srey/pros sava?? i know if you call someone a butterfly it is more of a playful insult, is this the same?

Actually i don't think it doesn't have an automatic sexual connotation, it is more about her or his behavior. It just suggests that the person doesn't have commitment for long term relationship and want to be around with more people. It is quite offensive, so i don't recommend to use with someone you don't really know.Yes, could be handy, but how insulting is it ? Does it have an automatic sexual connotation? Nice. It is good that you didn't say it directly to someone.yeah i gathered that thanks samouth thanks, i actually used it in a sentence today and it worked so thumbs up for you but as AM said, i wasnt saying it directly about someone and/or to that person, how offended would the person be if you was to describe them as a srey/pros sava?? i know if you call someone a butterfly it is more of a playful insult, is this the same?

This is where you have to be so careful using another language - especially making jokes. You have to judge how sensitive certain words can be. Calling someone a butterfly in English is not offensive. But then having many different partners is not considered offensive behaviour for a westerner. Do you think it would be more insulting for a woman than a man ?Samouth wrote:Actually i don't think it doesn't have an automatic sexual connotation, it is more about her or his behavior. As they say, you can joke about anything, just not with everyone.

Yes definitely it is more insulting for a woman than a man, because it khmer society woman is considered as white paper. More explanation here https://cambodiaexpatsonline.com/post917 ... ipe#p91707. Therefore, she has to be careful with what she does and how she behave. For a man, it is a not a big deal.Anchor Moy wrote:This is where you have to be so careful using another language - especially making jokes. You have to judge how sensitive certain words can be. haha in england we call people a "Snake" rather than a "Butterfly" but has a similar meaning, i only learnt the term butterfly being here in asia, i actually met one girl once who said she wasnt a butterfly, but labeled herself as a "Helicopter" haha obviously one of Pontoons finest hahahahaAnchor Moy wrote:This is where you have to be so careful using another language - especially making jokes. i think in english the common term for a "butterfly" would be "Tart" in a playful insulting term, oringinally an old english word meaning pretty woman, coming from the word Sweetheart shortened to Tart, but then went on to meaning a woman who is all Dolled up (make up) and is Promiscuous... http://www.thefreedictionary.com/promiscuous
or a "Slag" which is the same but said if intending to be a bit more insulting
