Sihanoukville Beach to be Cleared of Fences, Says Gov’t

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

That's what i thought the headline said at first. That is a much bigger problem than the fences IMO. They have fairly recently employed people to check the sewage output from the septic tanks. But it is an absolute disaster. If he comes round and you don't meet the standard, guess what happens next?

Don't know what the fence deal really is about, but I'm glad they seem to be making moves in the right direction. Clear all beaches of structures for 50 mtrs is a good idea. Can't really see it happening though. Soca is the one that should be next.

Remove the fence is good. But will they build the buildings?

From Fb "Expats and locals living in SV" :
In the plan the redevelopment of the beaches, some traders have received a letter informing them that they had the time of one month to move , then the demolitions teams arrive . The date is March 13 . The affected beaches are Otres 1 & 2, Serendipity , Occheuteal and Independence Beach. A proposed " pedestrian " area is also planned for Serendipity connected to the public beach before Sokha . The document is signed by the hand of Mr. Governor .

I've walked from Sokha beach to Serendipity, they have some work cut out for them to make that pedestrianised. There was a fair bit of rock scrambling on the Sokha side. There's more of a path as you get around the point where there's the bones of somebody's failed development.
