Where is it ?
Just being nosy, never stayed there. But, it looks like a place I know and the ladies there also play cards outside all day long...

Lambo, your logic...LOLJamie_Lambo wrote:Drugs: this is Cambodia, if youre staying in a $10-15 a night establishment, then its highly likely some of the tenants might be into taking drugs/smoking weed, if you dont like it, then go round the corner to one of the $30 a night hotels
Drugs, prostitution etc are against the law. The paying customer, whether he's paying $5 or $500 has the right to expect establishments to obey the law. Get it? The law is not something that one should have to pay huge amounts (or anything for that matter) for it to exist.
it's a reasonable expectation, from a law-abiding customer, not be harassed by pros and junkies, in any gh.
Your whole logic justifies any lousy experience anyone has by saying...oh, well if you don't want to be run over in the street, buy a Ferrari, and if you don't want to be murdered in your hotel room, stay at Sofitel, you deserve to be murdered if you stay at a $10/night place.
You refuse to believe that anyone can have an experience dissimilar to yours. Oh, you had an accident? Well, serves you right for driving an old model car, I travelled down that road, I never had an accident, I'm calling BS.
Weird.

Ok i think i can speak with some authority on this matter, and hopefully put an end to these ridiculous assumptions.
I have lived there for 3 years.
they are a lovely Khmer family.
It is safe.
I could go on and on, but i just can't be bothered with replying to people who don't know what there talking about..

1. As discussed, correctly, in the KT this week - prostitution is not illegal in Cambodia. In keeping with pretty much everywhere; pimping, running a brothel, etc. are but not the act of prostitution itself. Thus there's no reason a prostitute should be excluded from any hotel here.
2. Whilst pot for smoking is illegal, pot for cooking is assuredly not. (note: that crappy pun just for you Vlad).

Completely off the original topic (RIP Herr Kirchner), re the assertion that prostitution is a crime in Cambodia, a full page in the Khmer Times was devoted yesterday to a detailed and well-informed discussion of the legal status of prostitution in Cambodia. The legal position seems to be that paying for sex with someone over 18 is legal. However, paying for sex with someone under 18 is a crime (not sure what the age of consent is for non-commercial sex, probably 16). Solicitation is a crime, as is pimping. Thus neither the customer nor the provider, nor any guest house owner (unless they are procuring) are committing any crime in paid-for sex in Cambodia.

I really do not know why people start personally attacking a poster when they do not like what they read. This the more so as they seem to read something else than what has been actually put down in the post.
No character statement was made about the family. Yes, they are polite and nice. This is not the point.
The old lady is not a mamasan but she has evidently no problem with ladies earning their rent on site. If anyone wants to discuss mamasan yes or no, do so but, please, do not stick that to me. Nevertheless I can see that my post was too short on that point and thus open to interpretation.
Sure, drugs are plenty in SHV. BUT: i never walked over a yard and the smell hit 3 meters of the room door.
Jamie, no comment to offer about the Russian junkie? I took note of that. I guess there was nothing you could turn around to make it fit your views. Plus: This is the only GH so far I got drugs offered outside (we are talking not just weed) several times a day. I prefer a nice lady selling pineapple in front of my regular PP GH.
By the way, the SHV GH I use now when in town is as cheap as Sovannaphum but without the latter's problems. So there is no general rule about pricing/drugs/hookers as Jamie tries to tell us. It is a choice of the GH owners. As stated before I did not engage in speculation. Maybe someone else can tell us what the working ladies' bfs/managers do on the side.
The top security argument has also disappeared from your list.
Again, I had no immediate problems with the family. However, motorbike traffic at 3-4 AM makes noise. Hookers legal or illegal is anyone's choice. Some do not like it in their face 24/7. Others long for it and gravitate to such places. So my posts are a valuable pointer for both sides.
The drugs? Well, that can become a real problem if the police decides that for whatever reason something needs to be done and that place comes in handy. I do not long for having my face and name on the internet whilst temporarily detained and not being charged with anything.
I hope it will work out well for the family once they have sorted out the drug problem and perhaps they even tell the ladies what the limits are. Right now I think the nice family just cares as long as money comes in - no matter from what source and anyone can read this in a wide sense of the words. This might be ok for many but for some it is perhaps a reason to rethink the label 'nice'. I suggest in 'appearance nice.'
I feel sorry for anyone ending his life in such a place. That's came to my mind when I read the post and that's why I posted what I have positively seen. Many discussions if SHV is secure or not. The discussion here shows that it less SHV as such than personal choices.

Can actually mask long-term symptoms of heart disease.wackyjacky wrote:The drug, Pantoprazol isn't a clue. It's for esophagitis. Basically bad heartburn. Gastric juices flow up into your mouth and damages the pipe in between. A friend of mine uses that shit.

Ladies who trade for the day are ladies who have spare cash - my next door neighbour was very cheered by a phone call confirming a regular contractual payment today. Renting rooms to them is a cash cow unless they are meth-heads. I can see why they would be staying there, it's also a short crawl from the beach.
