Australian JAMES BERNARD KING Arrested in Sihanoukville For Locking Up Family & Demanding Sex From Sister & Niece
Re: Australian JAMES BERNARD KING Arrested in Sihanoukville For Locking Up Family & Demanding Sex From Sister & Niece
Money? Where is money even mentioned in the articles? These Sihanoukville expats can't even afford the rent hikes from $150 to $250 per month, no one is fabricating claims against them for money. Also, "he locked us up but didn't rape us" isn't going to get you a huge windfall anywhere.

"False imprisonment is the unlawful restraint of a person against her will by someone without legal authority or justification."
"In fact, any person who intentionally restricts another's freedom of movement without their consent (and without legal justification) may be liable for false imprisonment, which is both a crime and a civil wrong. It can occur in a room, on the streets, or even in a moving vehicle—just as long as the subject is unable to move freely, against his or her will."http://injury.findlaw.com/torts-and-per ... nment.html
No mention about this does not apply if those concerned have mobile phones!

James Bernard King says he locked them up because they owed him money.
Sun visor Huw once locked up a guy at Lakeside who owed him money. They could soon be sharing a cell because Huw apparently won't be released from Sihanoukville prison for a few months. Huw wants blankets and books if anyone cares to visit him.

Desperate measures for desperate people in desperate places. What can you do? Some people learn to let go, a credit to their community. Others do not, and either get dragged into something sticky (case in point here vs. women), or get a medal for smacking the heck out of someone who deserved it.prahocalypse now wrote: ↑Mon Jan 01, 2018 9:36 pmJames Bernard King says he locked them up because they owed him money.

Yikes, I don't like drug offenders, but that's all "Sunvisor Huw" wants? Blankets for the cold and books for sanity? He sounds pitiful.

Not if there's a fire, not even if you hear the sound of a thud from my home and one week later there's a smell coming from there that can only be a decaying human body and you have to hold a hanky to your face because the stench is so thick that you think you're going to faint.
Even then, don't come knocking...Not for ANY reason.

So, am I getting this message right?
Is it sort of OK here in Cambodia to forcibly detain someone but not beat them if they owe you money? Really?
I actually think that's common practice here. I've seen local business owners get into arguments with not-so-quick paying guests, and they harangued the heck out of them, and wouldn't let them leave (at threat of violence) until they either left collateral or satisfied their concerns somehow.
Archaic, primitive, and perhaps self-defeating, I know. But is that how they do it put here for non-payers?

Is that in the article because I didn't see it. That's an admission of guilt if true. There's no "maybe he's innocent" if he admits he locked them up to extort either money or sex from them.

Mr Vichetr [a provincial police officer] added that during his interrogation, Mr King confessed to confining the victims, but denied it was to have sex with them, saying it was because they owed him money.
