Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

At what point does the cost of policing, justice, infrastructure damage, upgrading infrastructure, increasing immigration services, environmental degradation and damage, widening of drug usage, etc. start to overtake the "benefits" of increasing Chinese "tourist" numbers? Cambodia is getting bitten in the ass during this love affair with China.

Getting rid of the casinos would be a good start..I suspect a lot of the associated bad elements of gambling would then go too...but it won't happen sadly.

Many Chinese are here to work hard and make some cash for back home.

I see them on the gateway project - living in conditions it must be difficult to endure and seriously working in tough dangerous jobs.

The bosses even crowd together in a villa and rarely go out.

It is as distressing for them to see this 'Shit' (my Khmer friends phrase) as it is for any decent people.

The talk in the market is about making Visas tougher - so these types of people don't enter the KoW in the first place.

Yeah - Casinos appeared to be a good idea - at first - macau, las vegas style - but the reality soon hit home.

I do dislike the Chicom system - but the majority of Chinese workers and investors I have every respect for.

Indeed, I respect Western/Korean/Japanese expats who do the same.

It seems preferable to most 'do-gooder' fraudulent NGO workers with Western Salaries, Villas with swimming pools and huge SUV's who do jack-shit about providing real jobs and real economic opportunities to the Khmer people.

As for the owning everything in Chinoukville - major mistake - is dispossessing the Khmers and reminds me of history where entire indigenous peoples eventually became second class citizens in their own countries.

Let's all hope for a brighter future and keep up the good fight against people who try to spoil our lives.
