In the west nobody gives a shit about you attacking an ATM, unlike here, it seems.
European ATMs quite often carry large warnings, that any attempt to smash the machine will release indelible ink and render the cash useless, and the alarm goes off, cops arrive etc. Don't know about elsewhere.

Back to OP, here in Cambodia, isn't there supposed to be some guy who sleeps next to these ATMs 24/24 ? Sometimes they even have a gun. You would've have thought this would wake him up?

Dunno, I'm from "Europe" and I've never seen a sign like that on an ATM machine. Although I have been out of Europe seven years, but I often punched and kicked them in my youth whilst hammered and in need of the price of 20 fags, king size Rizla, wine, chewing gum, condoms, curried chips and taxi fare.
