Cambodian officials looking for a British woman missing on Koh Rong island are focusing their search on fishing boats and have interviewed six men about her disappearance.

Amelia Bambridge, 21, from Sussex, was last seen at a beach party at about 3am on Thursday. Nearly 150 Cambodian officials and seven volunteers continued searching the island and surrounding areas on Tuesday, the fourth day of large-scale searches.

Officers have been speaking to six Cambodian men. “They are being questioned,” the provincial deputy police chief, Nop Panha, told AFP. “We are not drawing any conclusions yet.”

It is believed the men were being interviewed as potential witnesses rather than as suspects in any crimes. On Monday a Koh Rong official working with police said that there had been no arrests related to the search.

Why do you say that the police have not checked her phone? They are also asking for photos and videos from everyone who was present at the party.

Note: Cambodian police have been questioning people who are still on the island, but many backpackers who were at the party, on the night that Amelia Bambridge disappeared, have probably moved on. As time goes on, it will be harder to locate those people, who may have seen something or have something to report.
Anyone who was at the party at Police Beach on Koh Rong on the night of party, Wednesday 23 October, should contact Cambodian police or at least the missing woman's family, even if they are no longer in Cambodia. Please spread the word on facebook and in places where backpackers meet up, such as Kampot or Siem Reap.

Cambodian police question 20 over missing British woman; no arrests
PHNOM PENH (Reuters) - Cambodian police said they had questioned at least 20 people but made no arrests as they continued the search for a 21-year-old British woman who went missing last week, as her brother urged renewed efforts to try to find her.

Divers, land-based teams and police drones have been enlisted in the search for Amelia Bambridge, who was last seen on Thursday leaving for a beach party on the island of Koh Rong, which is popular with backpackers.

The next morning, a bag containing her watch and mobile phone - which showed photos posted online until 3:23 a.m. - was found on a rock near the water’s edge. Her movements thereafter are not known.

“We are very worried that’s why we are using all forces to search for her,” Koh Rong town governor Nuon Bunthol said.

Preah Sihanouk province Police Chief Chuon Narin said at least 20 people had been questioned on whether they met Bambridge the night of the party.

“We are questioning as many people as possible and we haven’t detained anyone,” he said, adding that he feared she might have drowned.

Her brother Harry Bambridge wrote in a Facebook post on Sunday: “EVERYONE I need you all to share as much as possible about my sister. ... More noise that gets made puts more pressure on the island to find her.”

Bunthol said Bambridge’s brother as well as her father and mother had arrived in Cambodia on Sunday.

Sure he can go there as well and pose infront of cameras but what the fuck do he know about search and resuce? Its Cambodia, not England.

Would you feel so much better only if he was in a picture on koh rong? Makes no sence no matter how heartfell you are in this mess.

I can not shake the impression that the bag found says more about the missing person case. I hardly know a young girl, who turns around at night alone between rocks and goes swimming, that makes no sense to me. Could it be that the bag was dropped there to be found there to make everyone believe it drowned?

I do not want to speculate here, but I just do not think you can go swimming alone at night, put the bag on a rock, of course pull out the watch, but then disappears without a trace. I think in that case they would have been found in the water?

One question I have to the community: If I have seen correctly, were in the bag 3 or even 4 different packs of drugs, all at least started, can someone tell me what those drugs are? I really do not want to speculate or discuss here, just really know what those tablets are.

I really hope to found Amelia soon, it's hard for all family-members and friends not knowing nothing what it is with her. I pray for an happy ending.

the ambassador should not be there in person of course
but the embassy should actually be "assisting the family" as they claim, with someone there to liaise between them and cambodian police

So you are unsure of what you have seen, make speculation and ask for assistance, then deny you want to speculate or discuss?
